In the middle of the largest barren plain in the world, Australia's Nullarbor ("null arbor"), two large meteorites weighing 17 tons were discovered near the Mundrabilla sheep station in 1966. Mundrabilla has a very low iridium content and very high troilite (iron sulfide) content, and as such has been designated by scientists as being "anomalous."
